Home for Christmas…

A recent change in the UK law, means that soon people will have to ensure their cats are microchipped or face a £500 fine. This is a move that a lot of people involved in feline rescue will be extremely glad to see happen, as the Cats Protection state that eight out of ten cats brought into their centres are unchipped; meaning there’s no easy way to locate their owners if they have any. It’s often the case that if a cat isn’t chipped, they’re also entire. This means that from a behavioural perspective, the cat is likely to wander further and not be recognised by people as he or she hasn’t stayed local to their own area.

Hopefully, with this law in place, more cats who visit people for food will be checked and reunited with their owners. That would make for a happy festive season for many cats, and their owners.

Maybe the change in law will mean more Christmas miracles like Roxys…
