Show me love…

This month obviously features Valentines Day, for those who celebrate it. It was also the month that my husband and I helped prepare a house for sale after the end of a rental situation.

In the house was rubbish that indicated a cat had lived in the property, and the more I looked around, the more I noticed something. Along a lot of the walls, predominantly near doors or under windows, there was damage. It didn’t take long to determine the damage was the result of a cat scratching those areas. Unfortunately, for the damage to be this severe, it indicates a likelihood there was a distinct lack of appropriate mental stimulus for the resident feline. While ensuring your cats more obvious basic needs are met is clearly important, recognising the more complex psychological aspects are equally so. Unless all aspects of your cats needs are considered, cohabitation from their perspective is likely to not be as harmonious as you think it is. Remember, to show your cat love is to take ALL of their requirements into account.
