An inconvenient convenience

I was browsing an online marketplace a few days ago and came across a product that has been designed to ensure a cat has access to dry food and water in a convenient and aesthetically ordered way. It looks like the perfect solution; except for, it doesn’t take into account a cats natural behaviour.

Cats are known to look for food and water sources separately, to lessen the risk of contamination of water. If the product is the only source of both, it’s likely a cat will be deterred from drinking the only liquid readily available to it which may cause dehydration in the cat.

It’s important when looking for solutions to cat care issues that the natural patterns followed by felines are taken into account, otherwise it may end up being more detrimental to the situation that’s being resolved.
