I’m on the outside, I’m looking in…

Following on from the previous blog is another example in the news of the intelligence levels in cats.

On February 14th last year, a lady in Quebec, Canada heard a noise and went to investigate its source. It turned out to be a rather bedraggled-looking ginger tom, pawing at her window. She contacted a local rescue who immediately set about nursing him back to health.

The cat in question; named Aslan by the rescue, was extremely cooperative. Not only did he alert the lady to his presence, he then walked into the rescuer’s carrier of his own volition and cooperated with a vet who had to assess his condition. This indicates he had, at some point, had interactions with people.

Unfortunately, this boy had neither been neutered nor microchipped. So if he did live with a family, the rescue had no way of tracing them.

The rescue believes if Aslan hadn’t made people aware of his presence when he did, he would have been unlikely to make it through the winter due to his health issues.

Aslan is now safe, and his conditions are being managed to get him back into peak condition.
